Tell us about how you got into music?
My name is Owen Ferguson. I'm from Ireland, and have been making music for roughly a decade on and off. My earliest memories of finding an appreciation for music are when I was a child in the West of Ireland, listening to a lot of traditional Irish folk and more experimental sounds of the time. I've enjoyed all sorts of music ever since, and took it up as a hobby around the age of 15 or 16.
How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?
A friend who had been making sort of ambient music on FL Studio 6 introduced it to me, and I remember getting addicted quickly. My first pieces consisted of some native drum loops and speech synthesizer antics, using Sytrus to create notorious offbeat basslines. Over the years I tested other DAWs, but always returned to FL for the sake of workflow efficiency and creativity.
Tell us about your production environment & toys?
I have a small, home project studio (I say 'studio' with reluctance) with some basic DIY acoustic treatment, a Yamaha HS 80 monitor setup, with everything running through a UA Apollo. I have a Komplete Kontrol S-88/Komplete 11/Maschine setup, but mainly the space is filled with acoustic instruments - violins, banjo, lap steel, guitars, drums and so on. In terms of software, my latest favourites have been Reaktor 6, Serum and Omnisphere 2.
