Heatbeat

Heatbeat is an Argentinian Trance and Electro House producer (formerly a duo) that formed in 2006. Since then, to today, FL Studio is a big part of what he does…

Tell us about how you got into music ?

I would describe myself as a simple geek guy. Since my childhood I had different musical tastes. But I am a lover of music in general: classical, rock, metal, alternative, trance, techno, breaks, pop, tango. Many of my family are musicians and have learned a lot from them

We heard video games influenced your music?

Video games inspired me a lot. I loved Sonic 2, 3, Mario world, Casino night. There are many easter eggs of games in our tracks.

How did you start music production?

For my 7th birthday, my parents gave me a synthesizer as a present. I practiced very hard with it, it was perfect to me. Not only the fact that I could play music but also I could create and produce music with it. At that time, I had 2 aims; get to know to compose music and also to learn to create sounds.

The fact that stopped me at that time was the high price of it in Argentina. So, I decided to get an emulator such as Rebirth. At the same time, Internet was recently spread so I went to music production magazines for samples.

How did you start using FL Studio?

I remember, I had a demo from an electronic music production magazine; I installed it. At that time I tried the piano roll, I knew it was perfect to me. I got obsessed with the software, and I downloaded every new version of it. I learnt new features and characteristics. Every day of my life I played it and created new tunes.

It happened to me, one day, my computer was broken; so, I went to cybercafé and I saved the demo of the FL Studio. I used it to create a new track and export it to mp3, so I can listen to; in my phone and shared with my friends! I was very much into it! Then I got another computer and tried with new tracks. Then I met (my former partner in Heatbeat) Agustin in an electronic music production forum.

What does FL Studio mean to your productions?

It covers all I need. I tried different DAWs. The interfaces are kind of boring and complicated; whereas with FL studio you can work just double click. FL studio means everything to me.

Tell us about your production environment & toys?

Basically, I work with a gaming computer; I am always updating it. I got Korg MIDI controllers and M-audio, also. I rarely used them; to improvise with piano sounds. I can spend lots of hours doing that, I love it! But, when I want to create tracks I am passionate about making a musical note visible with the mouse. I use the MIC Yeti to sing and I also, got an acoustic guitar. In my room, you can find Mario and Sonic toys everywhere. When I am producing, they are my company.
