Tell us about yourself and how you got into music?

Hey there, Alex here! I’m an ‘orchestral’ composer whose career started in a most unlikely way. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been passionate about music of all kinds. It always felt like magic to me, how some people had this gift of spreading messages, ideals, and taking my mind on another world simply by combining twelve notes in a particular order.

I always used to daydream about how cool it would be to make music, but not knowing where to start nor feeling gifted enough, I never gave music a serious try. It was in early 2013, when I randomly stumbled upon Zircon, Varien and SeamlessR’s YouTube channels, that I learned about the existence of DAWs and the world of Music Production.

As soon as I laid my eyes on FL Studio, my mind exploded with lots of creative possibilities that my lack of vision held me back from in the past. It was only then that, at the age of 21 and short of any musical knowledge or skills, yet full of inspiration, I grabbed myself a copy of FL Studio and started chipping away at it.

After a few years of absolute grind, I now work professionally as a composer for Hollywood Trailer Music Labels like Really Slow Motion Music & Sound Design, and just had one of my tracks featured in the Movie Trailer Campaign for BEN-HUR (2016) last August.

I also recently started to make YouTube tutorials where I share my knowledge as a composer to help new people get into the world of music, and inspire them to follow their musical ambitions.

My biggest dream, however, is to score a Final Fantasy game. That series, which is much more than a simple videogame saga to me, is what kickstarted my passion for the world of music.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I started using FL Studio shortly after seeing Zircon and Varien’s tutorials online. DAWs were an absolute new thing to me, but FL’s interface felt way less daunting and way more intuitive than the others, and the more I used it, the more that impression turned to be true.

For someone who, like myself, started out without knowing theory or without knowing how to play an instrument, FL Studio is a godsend as it allows you to write music tremendously fast, even with just a keyboard and mouse, thanks to its amazing piano roll and playlist control.

As I became more expert though, I started to notice how despite the simplistic and friendly look, FL Studio allows you to do highly advanced and creative things, like literally building intricate circuit boards of VST Plugins and Effects with Patcher. I love that stuff!

Tell us about your production environment & toys?

My production environment is actually quite humble, the only hardware I use are my M-Audio Axiom Pro 49, an M-Audo M-Track Plus Interface plus a few guitars. Most of what I use to make my orchestral music are VST softwares and loads of Kontakt Libraries, and of course, my right brain. 🙂
