Filter

The Filter is a variable state filter plugin, optimized for automation. Filters remove frequencies, similar to an EQ with the band reduced. Automating a Filter Cutoff is a key effect in modern EDM music.

To load presets tap the 'Default' (upper right) and choose from the Presets List.

Parameters

  • Frequency - Sets the cutoff frequency for the lowpass/bandpass/highpass filters.
  • Resonance - Boosts a frequency band near the cutoff level, to create a sound 'sharpening' special effect.
  • Kind - Choose:
    • LP (Low pass) - Frequencies above the cutoff are rejected.
    • HP (High pass) - Frequencies below the cutoff are rejected.
    • BP (Low pass) - Frequencies either side of the cutoff are rejected.
  • Slope - The frequency range over which frequencies go from unfiltered to filtered. Filters are measured in dB (deciBels of reduction for each doubling in frequency, and octave)
    • 24 (dB/Octave) - Relatively gentle transition. Will create natural fading of frequencies the 'other side' of the cutoff.
    • 48 (dB/Octave) - Relatively fast transition.
    • 96 (dB/Octave) - Very steep transition.
