BANDPLAY

BANDPLAY

Hailing from Nashville, BANDPLAY is one of the South’s most respected producer talents, fusing hard-hitting drums with soulful samples to define the modern Tennessee trap sound. Best known for his long-running collaboration with Young Dolph and the Paper Route Empire roster, Bandplay has built a name on consistency, originality, and street-certified anthems. From underground tapes to mainstream acclaim, he’s remained true to his roots while constantly evolving his sound—often with FL Studio at the center of it all. Here’s a look inside his process and rise.

Megan Thee Stallion – Ungrateful (feat. Key Glock) (prod. by BANDPLAY)

Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

What’s up? I go by BANDPLAY and I’ve been into music kind of my whole life. My family is very musically inclined. At 10 years old, I started playing keyboards and messing around with tools to make music. My older brother made music as well, so I was kinda piggybacking off of him growing up.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I started using FL Studio around 2003. I was introduced to it by my older brother and fell in love with the program. FL Studio means a lot to me because no matter how many programs I’ve messed around with, I’ve always come back to my first love, FL Studio!

BigXthaPlug – All The Way (feat. Bailey Zimmerman) (co-prod. by BANDPLAY)

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.

I’ve personally worked with a lot of artists throughout my career, including BigXthaPlug, Young Dolph, Megan Thee Stallion, Key Glock, & Gucci Mane, to name a few.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

I currently use the most updated version of FL Studio as well as an Akai Fire.

BANDPLAY in the Studio

What is your top FL Studio tip for up-and-coming producers?

Don’t be afraid to be different in your sessions — try things, turn knobs up past standard, make your music YOURS!!

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

Yes, I encourage new producers to use FL Studio — it’s very user-friendly and very easy on music makers starting out! Keep pushing the barriers.
