American producer Based1 has wasted no time becoming a Grammy winner and multi-platinum producer, all before the age of 21. He’s best known for his work with artists like Bad Bunny and Trippie Redd, among a slew of other impressive credits. He recently gave us an inside look at his studio where he uses FL Studio to produce his beats and to tell us a bit about his background and career.
BAD BUNNY, LUAR LA L – 100 MILLONES (prod. by Based1)
Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.
I’m a multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning producer. I grew up around music in my family and always had a love for playing with instruments. I started producing in the summer of 2016 after seeing videos of other producers chopping up samples on an MPC and wanted to learn how to do it myself.
How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?
I started using FL Studio after seeing a lot of producers I looked up to using it, and I always loved the sound they got out of it. For me, it means a lot because any time I pull up FL I’m confident I can make what I want to make.
BAD BUNNY – 25/8 (prod. by Based1)
Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.
I’m a 3x Grammy-nominated, and 1x Grammy award-winning, multi-platinum producer. I’ve worked with Bad Bunny, Nav, Gunna, Trippie Redd, Trey Songz, Lil Gotit, and many more.
Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.
I like to change up my production environment when I can to spark new ideas and creativity. But in my home studio I have some Yamaha monitors, a UAD Arrow, a 12-inch JBL sub, and my MacBook.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
