Craig Balmoris of Best Kept Secret Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling American producer Craig Balmoris has been around the block. From the early days of Mike Posner & Wale to working with artists like SZA, H.E.R, and on major motion pictures, Craig (on his own and as part of production duo Best Kept Secret with collaborator Julian Nixon) has seemingly done it all. He’s also been using FL Studio since the floppy disk days, and we’re excited to have him onboard as an official FL Studio Power User. Read on to learn more about his interesting background. SZA – Garden (Say It Like Dat) (prod. by Best Kept Secret) Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. I am Craig Balmoris, a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling music producer from Washington, DC. I have been into music for as long as I can remember. I would always bang on the table at school during lunch using pens and eventually started using Casio keyboards. I play Guitar & Bass and make beats. How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? At 15, I was introduced to FL Studio, back when it was called Fruityloops 3, on a floppy disk. I was amazed at the fact that you could see sound, manipulate MIDI, and have your WAV files organized neatly. My 2 favorite things about FL Studio are the “Play to End” feature located on the Fruity Slicer and, of course, the Sound Engine. |

I have produced for Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, H.E.R., 88 Rising, and more. I also work in film. I have worked on additional music and score for Marvel’s “Shang-Chi” and Netflix’s “You People”. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. I use a MacBook Pro, Apollo Twin, MIDI Keyboard, Guitar, and Bass.
