Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

We are Demy & Clipz (Étienne Gagnon & Steve Martinez-Funes) music producers from Montréal, Canada. Our passion for music started very early in our lives, and our parents played a huge role in developing our musical taste. We met each other in high school at 14 years old, and our journey with music production started shortly after through Reggaeton music which was emerging at the time. We always listened to every detail behind the songs we loved, so we went in and created our own music. From there, we kept on discovering and creating different genres of music, which brought us to where we are today.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

At the time, it was widely known in the Reggaeton community that FL Studio was the main tool used for its production, so we started using it from Day 1. We’ve seen it evolve through the years since version 3.5 and always dug deep into every feature as it got better and better. Its intuitive interface, the easy shortcuts, the browser’s search bar, and the way we can customize our projects all make it easy to bring our ideas to life and make our workflow very fluid. Also, the Piano Roll is hands down the best ever.

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.

We’ve worked with a few local artists and on many projects that involved music over visuals, from which FL Video Player came in very handy. Our productions can be heard in many ad campaigns for brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Guess. Our collaborations and long-time friendship with production duo Súbelo NEO has helped us land songs with Bad Bunny and Jowell & Randy which led us to where we are today.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

We generally work in our cozy studio at “The Mothership” in Montréal, and when the weather is great, we also love to bring our stuff and work outside. Our gear consists of our laptops, Yamaha HS8 Monitors, RME BabyFace Pro Audio Interface, Yamaha Reface DX/CS Synthesizers, Akai MPC ONE, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones, Sony MDR-XB55AP Earphones, and our ergonomic Logitech MX Vertical Mouse.
