Funk Tribu

Techno is undergoing a bold revival, and Funk Tribu is one of the driving forces behind its raw, euphoric energy. Hailing from Colombia and now based in Berlin, he’s known for his signature blend of high-octane techno, nostalgic trance, and 2000s rave textures—heard in viral tracks like “Phonky Tribu” and his acclaimed debut album Against All Odds. With performances at major festivals like Awakenings and Glitch, and a growing global fanbase, Funk Tribu is proving that underground sounds can still shake the mainstream. As a dedicated FL Studio user from the start, we’re excited to welcome him to our Power User list and hear more about how he brings his genre-defying vision to life. Let’s get into it!

Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

My name is Eduardo. I was born in Bogota, Colombia, and am currently based in Berlin. I started making music around 8 years ago. I always liked electronic music, and after learning how to DJ, I got really curious about how to go deeper and make my own tracks. I went on Google, did some research, and found FL Studio. Since then. I’ve been using it for all of my tracks — it’s a really powerful DAW.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I started learning about FL Studio through YouTube videos and some vlogs. For me, FL Studio is a great and versatile tool to easily put together any idea that I have in my mind.

Tell us about your work.

I’m mainly focused on electronic dance music — I would describe my sound as fast techno trance with a modern twist.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

I use my laptop and my headphones — I really like to keep things simple so I can keep working while traveling. FL Studio already gives you everything you need to work on something.

What is your top FL Studio tip for up-and-coming producers?

Appreciate stock plugins — it’s always tempting to get some third-party plugins — they’re good, but once you learn how to use the stock tools properly, they’re as powerful as any of these. Also, you should read the manual — there’s always some valuable information that makes it easier to help you understand how the plugins work and take the best advantage of them.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

I really like FL Studio — I’ve been a user for ages and it really has given me everything I need to make my ideas come to life. Thank you for that!
