IIkay Sencan

My name is Ilkay ?encan and I’m an artist, DJ, producer, sound engineer and label owner from Istanbul/Berlin. I started to do music at the age of 4, when I got a keyboard from my dad. But first got the music bug when I was 17 after a long love of listening to Trance music. After an intense year learning about various music software programs, I began to remix my favourite tracks – a valuable learning curve that soon enabled me to carve out my own unique sound which can be described as ‘Gangster House’. I’m heavily influenced by cool dirty, gritty bass loops and like to mix these sounds on top of house beats. In my first year, I produced over 250 tracks.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

For a long time I have been using some basic audio programs, but once a friend of mine introduced me to the FL Studio, it changed my life forever! I’ve been using FL Studio for over 14 years now and I can’t imagine doing my work without it!

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you worked with?

I am making a new generation of EDM Music. Some people called it Slap House or Brazilian Bass but for me it’s just my style – something like I-House.
I’ve released tracks with Alok, Tove Lo, Dynoro, Era Istrefi, Yves V, to name a few.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use?

I have my own music studio at home.  I like to use the Universal Audio Apollo for Audio interface. I have 2 studio monitors, which I really like –  Focal Solo 6 and Krk Vxt 6.
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 880. Midi Keyboard: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49. DAW: FL Studio. I also like to use Izotope and Waves plugins.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

I would really like to thank the FL Studio team for always improving the system and quality of it. Every update makes me excited and happy, and it’s so much easier to create music with your software!
