Jonas Aden

I’m from Oslo, Norway – and we have long and dark winters up here. I started playing the piano early on playing classical music, so I guess I could say I’m a classically trained pianist?

Tiësto was one of my main inspirations for getting into electronic music production 10 years ago, and he still is. So it’s really cool that I get to release music on his label, Musical Freedom, and he’s definitely been a mentor for me over the last year! I’ve been through a lot of different genres, production wise – and I still listen to a lot of different types of music.

Tell us about the ‘Aden Award’ you hosted?

I saved up $10,000 through my music, and wanted to give it to someone who needed and deserved it – to hopefully help them pursue their dreams! The contest was open until the 31st of December 2019, and we got over 5,000 individual applications, which is insane. I’m going to try and host awards like this more often, not necessarily only monetary awards – but I want to try and give back to the community as much as I can as their ultimately the reason why I get to do what I do – which I am forever grateful for!

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I’ve been using FL Studio for as long as I can remember, and it’s still my go-to DAW. It’s quick, easy to use and it gets the job done. I would highly recommend it for someone who’s thinking about starting their career in production!

Tell us about your production environment & toys?

I have a video on my YouTube channel called ‘What’s In My Studio?’ (see above) where I go through everything that’s in there. In short, I have Artnovion panels, acoustics designed and built by Joop Design and Equinnect Design, a Moog Subsequent 37 and a Prophet 6, and my speakers are KRK Rokit 8g2’s and 10s subwoofer.

Do you have any links you would like to share?

I would love to share a link to my website – jonasaden.com – where I give away samples from every track that I release – completely for free. In my YouTube videos I go through my tracks, step by step, using the samples that I give out for free to hopefully give some tips and tricks, and shed some light on parts of my production to the people who are interested.
