Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

My name is Juls, and I’m a music producer and DJ. I got into music starting off with FL 3, which I started using in 2007. I started off chopping soul samples and African records with boom-bap drums and heavy bass. Over time, my sound has changed after carving out my own lane in the game and pioneering a certain sound of modern-day Afrobeats.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I first tried FL Studio when I was at university. To this day, I use FL Studio mainly for my drum programming and building the foundation of my beats before adding other bits live.

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.

I have released about 5 EPs and 2 albums. I’ve worked with the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Stormzy, Masego, Joey Bada$$, and many more.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

My studio has a certain natural aspect to it. I have a lot of action figures of my favourite cartoon characters and sport personalities. Currently, I use my laptop, Focusrite Scarlett interface, a Native Instruments keyboard, and a lot of percussion instruments.
