We’ve been fans of KARRA’s for a while, and when we started to see her releasing some really high-quality FL Studio tutorials, we got in touch to learn more about her background. We’re now pleased to count this talented musician as an official FL Studio Power User and are looking forward to continuing our work with her. Read on to learn more about her story! Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. What’s up fellow FL Studio users! I’m KARRA, an artist, songwriter, and vocal producer. You may have heard my vocals on tracks with your favorite producers or used my best-selling Vocal & Serum Preset Packs on Splice in your productions. I grew up on the Jersey Shore, where my mother was my voice teacher. She will always be my biggest influence and is the reason why I pursued a career in music. Although my focus had always been on singing and songwriting, I eventually learned the art of vocal production. Early on I recognized that I had a natural gift for teaching others, so I started creating tutorials on production, songwriting, and singing. This eventually led to creating my website iamkarra.com, where I sell vocal templates, presets, and full-length courses on various topics within the music industry. Music is my passion, and it fulfills my soul to not only create it but to help guide others on their very own musical path. How to Write a Song from Scratch with KARRA How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? FL Studio is undeniably a force to be reckoned with. Learning that it was the most popular DAW amongst music producers, I had to see what the hype was all about. It was also incredibly important for me to learn how to use FL Studio myself so that I could showcase the software in my content and better create products that cater to FL Studio users. The FL Studio community is like no other, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. What I love about FL Studio is that it can be as simple or advanced as you want it to be, making it the perfect software for both beginners and advanced users. The huge collection of plugins offers everything you need to complete a song from production, recording, mixing, and mastering. How to Record & Mix Vocals in FL Studio with KARRA Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. I started my career as an EDM vocalist. My collaborations and writing credits include KSHMR, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Alan Walker, Krewella, Slander, Ghastly, Jauz, Haliene, Gareth Emery, Far Out, Seven Lions, Jason Ross, LSDream — the list goes on. After many years of focusing on EDM, I took a detour to follow my dreams of being a solo pop artist. My sound is fun, powerful, and eccentric, with a hip-hop influence. My production team includes my partner in life Reid Stefan, aka the Realest Puppet in the game, and the legend himself KSHMR. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. I spent many years traveling across LA working in studios. From that experience, I started to crave my own personalized space. Since then, Reid and I have built a beautiful home studio setup that we like to refer to as Lazer Jungle Studios. Colorful lighting, essential oils, crystals, and of course our studio cats, complete the experience and inspire us every day. My vocal chain consists of a Sony C800 microphone, Tube-Tech Compressor, Vintech Audio Pre-Amp, Apollo X8, and the Mac Pro. I was brought to you for a reason, and I am here to not only entertain but to lift you up, as you do the same for me.
