Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

I first started experimenting with creating music when my mom bought me a small piano keyboard when I was about 16/17. At first it was hard and I gave up…but about 3 years later I was determined to learn how to play piano. I watched a ton of YouTube tutorials and learned how to play a few popular songs. My love for producing began when I started creating little songs of my own. I would take what I knew about chord progressions and create little patterns of my own just by hand. At this point I still knew nothing about music theory; I just was messing around and having fun.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I found the FL Studio demo after watching Soulja Boy talk about how he made his biggest song on it. I love FL Studio because it’s very easy to pick up when you first start and there is such a high ceiling when you get really good!

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.

I have never desired to sign or produce for big label artists, but through YouTube, I have worked with some of the biggest independent artists in the world (such as Russ or Nic D). Anything I have done with artists usually has a video telling the story, such as the song I created with POWFU.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

I produce out of my own studio, and I keep it simple. While I LOVE hardware, I try not to rely on it. You never know when you’ll be in a situation where it’s just you and FL Studio, and you need to make something awesome!

What is your top FL Studio tip for up-and-coming producers?

My top tip for new producers is take the limiter off the master LOL. Tip #2 is think outside the box. FL Studio gives you the tools to make simple trap beats AND symphony orchestras. Use everything you can!
