At a young age, multi-platinum selling American producer Menoh has already had major success in the Hip Hop genre, particularly as a frequent collaborator of artists like Lil Skies and Lil Tecca. Perhaps best known for his breakout hit “Red Roses” with Lil Skies and Landon Cube, Menoh has amassed billions of plays on his music worldwide, and has been using FL Studio right from the beginning. We recently caught up with him to hear more about how he got started, keep reading to learn more!

Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.
My name is Menoh and I’m from Chicago, Illinois. I started getting into production as a teenager — I used to beatbox as a kid and eventually started doing talent shows and beatboxing for cyphers with the older students. That’s where my interest in music really began.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?
My older brother had the demo version of FL Studio 9. I would watch him try and make beats but he eventually gave up. I kept on with the demo version for a while until I decided it was time to get the full version and try taking music production seriously. I switched to Maschine for a year to use the MK2 but then I went back to FL. I went back because of how great FL Studio makes the drums sound. It’s also very quick and easy to use without being limited in what you can do.
Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.
I work most closely with Lil Skies and Lil Tecca. I gravitate towards making melodic beats with airy melodies, and clean yet hard-hitting drums and 808s.
Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.
Most of the time I’m producing on the go or in my bedroom, so I don’t use much gear. I have a MacBook Pro with a UAD Apollo X. I typically either use my Audio Technica MX50 headphones or my go-to Yamaha HS7 monitors.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
