Mosley Twin brothers Justin and Jordan Mosley have made a name for themselves producing for some of the biggest artists in Hip Hop, R&B, and Latin music. The Latin Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling American duo, who go by Mosley, have worked with heavy hitters like Post Malone, The Game, and NBA Youngboy, just to name a few, and have made their way to becoming part of Timabaland’s production team. They’ve used FL Studio from the start, and we’re excited to welcome them as FL Studio Power Users and learn more about their background. Cosha TG – Moving On (prod. by Mosley) Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. We go by Mosley. We are twin brothers, Justin and Jordan Mosley, who produce as a duo from Delaware. We got into music because we were always surrounded by it growing up. Our household was filled with music, and our dad would buy us the latest hip-hop and R&B albums every week in the late ’90s and 2000s. Eventually, we got into vinyl and turntables, and studying vinyl covers and credits inspired us to learn about all the elements of music production, which motivated us to create music of our own. How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? We came across FL Studio around 2006-2007 when a childhood friend installed a demo version on our computer. We were instantly blown away by how user-friendly it was and its ability to create stuff that sounded like the music we loved. It means a lot to our production process because of how fast it is to bring our creative ideas to life without any trade-offs. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. Currently, our setup consists of FL Studio being at the center of everything, and we try to keep the vintage sound with a Fender Stratocaster guitar and pedals from Chase Bliss, Strymon, and Microcosm from Hologram. For keyboards, we both use a Komplete Kontrol. |
Post Malone – Too Young (prod. by Mosley) Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. One of our early successes was working with Post Malone on his debut album, “Stoney,” which features our production on the multi-platinum single “Too Young.” In addition, our success led us to be recognized by super-producer Timbaland and eventually become a part of his production team. We also have had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Kanye West, NBA Youngboy, and Ludacris. Furthermore, our contributions to Nathy Peluso’s debut album, “Calambre,” earned us a 2021 Latin Grammy for “Best Alternative Album.”
Mosley in the Studio with Timbaland & Saweetie What’s your top FL Studio tip you’d like to share? One of the things we love to do in FL Studio is to experiment with different plugins and effects to create unique sounds and textures that nobody else is using. We would tell up-and-coming producers to learn the DAW and its shortcuts. It will make your process so much easier. Is there anything else you would like to tell us? |
