Hailing from Cuba, 3x multi-platinum producer and Latin Grammy nominee Nando Pro has made major waves in a variety of latin music genres. He’s worked with the likes of Pitbull and his music has garnered many millions of plays worldwide. We recently caught up with him to learn about his story and experience with FL Studio, enjoy! Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. I had an interest in music from a very young age since I spent 7 years studying the specialty of piano at an art school. I’ve always made music since I was a kid, but it wasn’t until about 1996, when I was 15 years old, that I started working with artists and creating my first tracks. Karol G – “Casi Nada ft. CNCO” (produced by Nando Pro) How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? At first, I made music with sequencers and rhythm machines, before discovering FL Studio through a friend. I had Producer Edition for a long time, but upgraded to FL Studio All Plugins Edition in 2016. As I have written many times previously, FL Studio is the basis of everything for me. FL Studio has powered almost all of my inspiration and creation — it has always been a strong bridge between my brain and music. |
Jacob Forever – “Hasta Que Se Seque el Malecón” (prod. by Nando Pro) Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. I have always been dedicated to music production, but I have also been a DJ for many years with Jacob Forever, Gente de Zona, and other artists from my area. I primarily create urban music in genres like Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Salsa, EDM, and others. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. I always use FL Studio as a base to make my music and Pro Tools as a multitrack for voice recording. As far as audio plugins, I use a lot of the native ones from FL Studio as well as Nexus, Sylenth1, Serum, and others. For hardware, I use Antelope, Motu, and Universal Audio interfaces as well as Yamaha and Focal studio monitors.
