Ovy On The Drums If you haven’t heard of Ovy On The Drums, you’ve likely heard his music. The Colombian artist, producer, and singer has been the mastermind behind hits from artists like Nicki Minaj, KAROL G, Becky G, Paulo Londra, Bad Bunny, and 6ix9ine, and has even collaborated with Ed Sheeran. Needless to say, his music by him has been massively popular and he has built an impressive following for himself. We were excited to learn that he uses FL Studio as his DAW of choice, and enjoyed learning more about his background from it. Read more below! Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. ENGLISH: I started in music very unexpectedly. One day, I went to my cousin’s house where he and a friend were learning how to produce and create music, and I was there playing soccer. Before then, I had never thought of becoming a music producer. ENGLISH: I started in music in an unexpected way, when I went to the house of a cousin who was learning to create music with another friend and they showed me how music was made I was just playing soccer and it didn’t cross my mind to be music producer. Ovy in the Studio How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? ENGLISH: When I went to my cousin’s house that day, one of his friends showed me FL Studio for the first time in my life. At that time I didn’t even know how to write a melody or what a plugin was, and at that moment, my life changed. FL Studio was like entering a new world and galaxy. From then on it became my temple — the place where I disconnect from everything else and create my music, sounds, and art. ENGLISH: When I went to my cousin’s house that day one of the guys who was there showed me FL Studio for the first time in my life, I didn’t know how to make a melody, nor did I know it was a plug-in and at that moment My life changed, it was like entering a world in another galaxy and since then the FL Studio has been like my temple, my place where I disconnect and create my sound, my music, my art. Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. ENGLISH: Well, thanks to GOD and my discipline I have built a name in music and have had the opportunity to work with big artists like Karol G, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheehan, Enrique Iglesias, Quavo, Steve Aoki, J Balvin, Anuel, Myke Towers, Micro TDH, Piso 21 and many more. Thanks to GOD I’ve had big songs in my career such as “Tusa”, which became the 3rd-most awarded song in the world, surpassing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and many more. |
Beele & Ovy On The Drums – Unforgettable ENGLISH: Well, thanks to GOD and my discipline, I have built a name in music and I have had the opportunity to work with great artists like Karol G, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Enrique Iglesias, Quavo, Steve Aoki, J Balvin, Anuel, Myke Towers, Micro TDH, Piso 21 and many more…and thank GOD I have had great songs throughout my career…songs like “Tusa” which was the third most awarded song worldwide, surpassing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” among others. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. ENGLISH: Well, thanks to GOD I have two studios at home, but since I travel a lot, I have a production kit that I use when I’m traveling. I make a lot of my songs during trips and places I visit. So long as I have FL Studio it’s enough for me, and obviously a pair of speakers, a good laptop, and my mini controller. ENGLISH: Well the truth is that thank GOD I have two studios at home but since I travel a lot I have my travel kit ready and I make many songs on my trips, I play games that I visit only with the FL Studio it’s enough for me… and obviously my speakers my good laptop and my mini controller. Ovy’s Studio Is there anything else you would like to tell us? ENGLISH: FL Studio is my favorite software. A lot of my colleagues have told me to use other software programs, but I will never leave FL Studio. I feel that even after 9 years of my career, I only know how to use 40% of the DAW, and every day I keep learning new things about this beautiful software. ENGLISH: That FL Studio is my favorite software, and many colleagues tell me to use other software, but the truth is that I would never leave my FL Studio.
