Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

Hello, my name is Agnivesh Baghel also known as Ragasur. I am a music composer, producer, and DJ from India. My parents possess a lot of knowledge of classical music, which inspired me to learn musical instruments such as Tabla and Harmonium.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I first started using FL Studio when my father got me a computer in 2004 with music production software (DAWs), with Fruity Loops being one of them (FL Studio v2). This version of FL did not have the piano roll feature but it was still fun creating beats using the step sequencer. After a year or two, I downloaded the FL Studio 4 demo, which was the real game-changer for me. The software allowed me to implement my thoughts into the tunes within just a few clicks and the piano roll was just perfect. This led me towards some serious music production. I could never think of switching to other DAWs after that.

Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with.

After years of self-learning, I uploaded my first FL Studio track in 2009 on YouTube. That is where my whole social media music career started. After this, I went on to creating Tutorials, Tips & Tricks, and more tracks. I did not know much about musical genres, but I think I was mostly into Trance and Progressive style. I got involved in many Indian featured films, documentary movies, and regional movies in later years. Through these experiences, I learned my preferred style of music and created my current artist name ‘Ragasur’. Consequently, I released my first major hit song called “Lag Gaye” in a collaboration with my elder brother known as BCS which became one of the biggest meme sensations of India overnight.

We went on releasing more tracks together with a mixture of electronica and Indian classical music. We also used some funny Indian explicit words on the lyrics, which attracted a wide variety of audiences. For now, we are looking forward to continuing this journey in this manner.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

I worked on ordinary Intex home speakers for a long period of time with a pair of low-range headphones such as the Sennheiser HD 212, HD 280. However, I now have ATH m50x which is my current monitor. I do not use much hardware since my Novation Launchkey and M Audio c400 soundcard do the work very well. I have the AKG C214 for recording vocals. Other than that, everything is created and processed within FL Studio.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

With new experiences making mistakes, we invent more mistakes. FL Studio helped me find them easily in a fun way.
