S-X S-X is a Grammy-nominated British singer, songwriter, and producer, known for his solo artist career, as well as his work with artists like Chance the Rapper, Future, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, J. Cole, and many others. We recently were introduced to him by our friends at Novation and learned that he has been an FL Studio user from the beginning. Read on to learn more about his background and why he uses FL Studio to this day. S-X – All Night (feat. Trippie Redd) Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. In High School, I started as a beatboxer and played the drums. That helped me transition into becoming a DJ, which then led to production and eventually becoming a full-fledged artist. It’s been an organic progression from the beginning. I’m fortunate enough to be able to produce, write and perform my own music, giving me full creative control over the entire process. How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? A good friend of mine was using FL 3 in his kitchen and I was in awe of how quickly and easily you can make beats… and that’s still the reason I’m a huge advocate of FL Studio now. In the Studio with S-X // Novation (FLkey) Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. I’ve been blessed and fortunate enough to work with the likes of Childish Gambino, Lil Wayne, J Cole, and Skepta to name a few out of an extensive list of incredible talent and artists. I also produce all of my own music. Timeless music that sounds better the older it gets, just like a fine wine. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. My production environment is basic, to be honest. I use a laptop and headphones with all my plugins and sounds inside. It’s really not about having a crazy setup, especially with the advances in technology and software. This allows me to work remotely and on the move. Simple, convenient, and flexible.
