shonci – Menina de Vermelho Remix Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. I’m shonci, a content creator, producer, and artist known for my viral series on TikTok where I make beats and share my process. I’ve always been that one kid with a lot of energy and always dancing, but I really got into music when I discovered SoundCloud and found all the underground artists. At first, I thought music was just what you hear on the radio or YouTube, but the underground scene felt like a whole new world. They didn’t follow any rules, and the music felt raw and exciting. That’s what made me want to start creating. Shoutout Yung Lean, he really put me on something. How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? My friends and I started making diss tracks in high school about teachers and other friends. I searched up how to record and sound like a rapper, and FL Studio popped up. There were so many tutorials and presets, and the UI was the best-looking one, so FL Studio felt like the best choice. Fast forward to 2023, I thought it would be funny to film myself making my first beat and post it on TikTok. All I did was add a loop and some kicks to make a Jersey Club remix, and it ended up changing my life. |
shonci – CHEGOU 3 Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. The most fun artist I’ve worked with has to be IShowSpeed. I’ve worked with a lot of different artists, but with Speed, it never felt like work. It was just hanging out with your homie, joking around, and messing with FL Studio. I ended up spending months with him and even flew to Brazil to film the project. I also worked with some crazy talented producers like Rio Leyva, Cxdy, and Taz Taylor. It’s wild how much you can learn from just one studio session. As for my own work, it honestly surprised me. I was never really confident in the music I made, and most of the time, I had no idea what I was doing. But I still posted it because I thought it was funny, and somehow people really connected with it. My track “Chegou 3” was something I made in like one day. I thought it was repetitive and the mix was rough, but I posted it anyway. It ended up blowing up, and now it has over 50 million streams and is being played in clubs and festivals around the world. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. I recently moved out of my parents’ house and upgraded my whole setup to go full-time with the music stuff. I don’t use any special gear, but I do have a gaming PC to play games, record videos, edit, and make music. Headset: Logitech G430 shonci in the Studio What is your top FL Studio tip for up-and-coming producers? Always put yourself out there and build a brand around who you are. Don’t stress about numbers or compare yourself to others. If you keep making music and stay consistent, you’ll get there. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube are basically a free lottery — you just have to keep playing. Is there anything else you would like to tell us? I’m super grateful for my fans and for where things are heading. Being a content creator was always a dream of mine — now I actually get to do this for a living, and I genuinely love it. |
