Smash David

My name is Smash David (aka Samuel David Jimenez). I come from a musical family and grew up playing drums in church.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I randomly stumbled upon FL Studio 1 about 15 years ago when I was installing a sound card and the driver disk came with a FL Studio demo. I have been using FL Studio since version 2.  It’s so hands on and easy to use, makes my drums hit and the process is so easy. There’s so much you can do to make your drums and melodies unique. The automation is probably what I use the most.

Tell us about your career and some of the artists you worked with?

I was producing for about 10 years before I started getting my 1st big placements which was Khalid – Location and Big Sean – Bounce Back, which got me 3 Grammy nominations and after that I’ve worked with Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, Young Thug, LilWayne, Tory Lanez, LilBaby, 2 Chains, Migos, Ty, Jeremih, G Eazy, XxxTentacion, DaBaby, Tyga, Trey Songz, PND, and many more. I’ve also ventured off to the Latin industry and won a Latin Grammy with Maluma and Jason Derulo. I got another Latin Grammy nomination this year for producing 3 on Myke Towers new album. I have a lot more Latin records otw.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use?

I like working from my home studio. I use BareFoot MicroMains 26 speakers Razer laptop with a few MIDI controllers and some analogue gear like the Op-1 and a Mellotron and a few others.
