Tell us about yourself and how you got into music?

I’m Chloé aka CloZee, I’m from Toulouse, France. I’ve always been a huge music listener (all genres), but i’d never thought to become a solo musician. I started the music by learning the classical guitar at 11 and my passion for electronic music brought me to the world of music production when i was 16, when i discovered FL. The music production started to take over studies: I literally became addicted. I decided to share my first glitchy trip-hop sounds on Soundcloud when i was 19, and thanks to the internet, the fanbase kept growing every day. I’m now touring North America (for my 5th tour) which included festivals like Coachella, Lightning In A Bottle, Envision, Shambhala alongside some of my biggest inspirations. As a little independent french producer, i feel blessed! I don’t realize.

Tell us about your music and your mentors.

I’d say my music is a fusion between Trip-Hop, Glitch-Hop, Tribal Trap, Future Bass and World Music.

I try to take the listener on a journey, to another world. It’s like a place with no boundaries, where you can hear instruments from all other world, mixed with organic sounds, powerful basslines, catchy beats, tribal voices…

I’ve been madly influenced by Timbaland’s productions when i was a teenager. I also love the unpredictable classy music of edIT (from The Glitch Mob), Amon Tobin, The Flashbulb, Flume, the trippy beautiful organic sounds of Bonobo, and the flamenco guitar master Vicente Amigo.

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I heard about FL Studio when i was 16: i wanted to record my guitar covers of popular songs to upload them on YouTube (which was all i wanted at first). I found some tutorials by a guy using FL explaining how to record and edit files. I decided to give it a try, but i got trapped by the software, because i discovered that i could add a bass, and a beat and some glitches to my guitar parts!!! whaaaat!!! Infinite possibilities, super intuitive tool… It was the beginning of my relationship with FL, and the start of ‘CloZee’.

I do everything with FL: recording, production, sound design, mastering… The 3xOSC plugin, Sytrus, Fruity Slicer, Granulizer… just to name a few: all the Fruity special effects are sooo amazing. The drums and percussions programing directly in the pattern with a lot of layers is my favorite thing to do. It’s the best thing from FL to me.

Tell us about your production environment & toys?

I have a little home studio with a PC, a macbook pro, 3 guitars, a keyboard, a microphone and a lot of objects to record and hit (i love folleysounds and organic sounds), and some plants for a better atmosphere haha. Pretty simple, but it works fine for what i wanna do :).
