Tell us about yourself & how you got into music?
I’m a singer/songwriter from Northern California. I was born in France and moved to the US at the age of 10. My musical journey started when I was 12 and decided to try learning the drums. About a year later I started making singing videos on youtube which were inspired by some of my favorite cover artists on youtube at the time. I then learned the guitar, followed by the piano on my own, and started producing my own music.
What encouraged to continue following your musical dreams?
Definitely reaching 100k YouTube subscribers. I remember as a kid when I started my youtube channel I got so excited when I reached 100 subscribers so being able to look back now and say that my fans and I were able to grow my channel so much through our shared love of music is really incredible. Of course getting a video to 1M views on youtube was also huge for me, but subscribers mean more to me because it shows a lot more dedication for someone to be a subscriber than a one time viewer.
How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?
I will always remember my transition to FL Studio. It was like finally getting all my frustrations and unanswered questions solved at once. I had been using Adobe Audition to record my covers as I only needed a software to record vocals at the time. As soon as I started trying to produce, or even just adding instruments, I started seeing some major issues and I was struggling to make progress. My friend (Vittorio) had been using FL Studio for a long time so I knew about it but I was scared to try it because it looked so intimidating. But as soon as I started making projects on it I realized how smooth and limitless of a software I was dealing with. To my productions, Image Line’s FL Studio means speed, and it means a tool with a range of possibilities so wide I know I will never stop learning.
Tell us about your production environment and toys?
I used to Produce my songs on a desk in my bedroom, but around the time I got FL Studio, I decided it was time to upgrade my setup a little bit. My dad and I cleaned up the garage and made a Studio. Eventually, as time went by, little things were added to the studio and now it has studio monitors, a mic platform with acoustic foam around it where I put my condenser microphone for my recordings. I have a little midi beat pad with a small piano on it which helps me make my music. I have all my guitars, my piano and drums here too. I also got a second monitor which doesn’t seem like a huge deal but I would say it’s one of the things that has sped up my workflow the most, especially with FL Studio due to the enormous variety of plug-ins which could all be open at once and take a lot of room on the screen.
