Auto-Pitch is a real-time pitch-correction, manipulation module that can correct pitch in realtime.
To load presets tap the menu icon (upper right) and choose Presets List.
There are Basic and Advanced tabs:
- Basic Parameters
- Bypass snapping - Disables pitch correction for all notes. There are individual bypass options for notes on the Advanced tab.
- Notes (icons) - Select notes to include them in the output. Deselect notes to exclude them. When a note is excluded, the next nearest pitch (note) will be used and the output repitched to that note. For example, deselecting all notes except one, will force all input to that pitch. There is also a Key (scale) option to automatically select notes in the specific scale.
- Speed - How quickly the input notes are repitched. Fast settings (100) sound more artificial and slower settings more natural. Slower settings are particularly useful when the vocal contains legato or glissando style singing and you don't want to hear the input snap to the next pitch.
- Pitch - Retune all input to a new pitch. +/- 12 semitones. NOTE: Select all notes and you can use Pitch offset as a 'pitch shifter'.
- Fine tune - Retune all input to a new pitch. +/- 50 cents. There are 100 cents between each semitone in the scale.
- Scale - Choose the scale for the automatic note selection (Minor, Major, Pentatonic, Chromatic or Single note).
- Key - Key signature. The root note of the Key to be used on the note selector.
- F-Mode (Formant) - Select to allow automatic formant correction. Vocals will sound more natural with formant correction enabled. Formants are the resonances of the vocal tract or an instrument body. Normally these do not change with pitch. F-Mode ensures formants don't change with re-pitching.
- F-Shift (Formant shift) - Manually offset (change) the formant setting.
- Advanced Parameters
- Byp (Bypass) - When a note is bypassed, it is not re-pitched. So when a note is selected on the Basic tab AND Bypassed, it will be unpitched (natural).
- Pitch preference - Choose the Channel used to detect pitch. Can be useful with stereo samples containing different left and right channel sounds.
- Base freq (frequency) - Choose the tuning used for A in the scale in Hz.
- Stability - Increase this setting to minimize notes dithering between two pitches (fast and unwanted switching when the algorithm can't decide which note to repitch to).
- Mix - Normally this is set to 100% (all effected sound). If you set this to between 30-60% you can create interesting chorus effects for vocals.
