AngeFragile – Featured Artist

The response the the ‘Calling all girls‘ item has been epic, thanks girls! Today we are featuring:

AngeFragile (Bettina, from the Netherlands) whose atmospheric (chill-out) style has gone down well here at the Image-Line offices. We’re all so relaxed it’s hard to get any work done 🙂

Q: How did you start using FL Studio and what were your first impressions?

I’ve had a passion for music since I was a little girl and always wanted to do ‘something’ musically. Due to circumstances I had to stop attending music school as a child, but it always remained in the back of my mind.

It was only after the support from my best friend I took the plunge to start once again and test some software. FL Studio ended up being the one I clicked with instantly. Definitely the only one in which I was putting ‘a song’ together within minutes thus a love affair born (with its ups and downs). FL Studio may seem simple on the surface but don’t be fooled, in reality there is so much to learn and for me that’s been an ongoing process for roughly three years now.

Q: Tell us about yourself and your production/working environment?

At the moment I have a simple set up in my living room being PC, Sennheiser HD650 headphones, M-Audio Axiom 61 and very recently a Rode NT2a microphone. Still I’m saving up to add a decent headphone preamp and in time a good set of monitors of course. I’m a software girl, and mainly use Omnisphere and Komplete 5/6 in my projects but not limited to those.

In general, like many others, I get inspired by events happening in my life, be it good or bad. Having a very demanding day job making music is the perfect way to unwind. I do not usually sit down with a complete worked out idea in my head, far from it actually. I fool around a bit until I hit a note or a chord that really appeals to me and take it from there.

Translating an idea or a mood into a piece of music can be so liberating, but it doesn’t always come easy. I am a slow worker and easily get lost in the details haha.

Q: Do you have any music you can share with us?

Music is very subjective, but I would say my style is about making honest music, atmospheric and emotional. And i hope this in some way translates to the listeners.
