Trial limitations
In trial mode FL Studio won’t reopen project files (.flp). You’re able to save and export projects, but once you close FL Studio, your project is locked until you buy an Edition.

How do I install FL Studio?
Windows: Run the installer as administrator, accept the license agreement, pick your install location, and keep all components checked. It takes about two to five minutes. You'll be making music before your coffee gets cold.
macOS: Open the .dmg file and drag FL Studio to your Applications folder. If macOS blocks the app on first launch, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway. The app is signed and notarized by Image‑Line.
How do I unlock FL Studio after purchasing?
Open FL Studio and go to Help > Unlock FL Studio > Sign in and unlock. Your browser opens. Log in with your Image‑Line account, and you're done. Close and relaunch FL Studio to finish. The whole process takes less than a minute.

I can't unlock FL Studio. What should I do?
VPNs, firewalls, and antivirus software can sometimes block the unlock process. Try turning off your VPN, adding FL Studio to your firewall exceptions, and trying again. If that doesn't work, use the offline unlock method. It works every time.
My third-party plugins aren't showing up. How do I fix this?
Open Options > File Settings > Manage plugins, then click Find installed plugins and Verify plugins. Make sure your plugins are installed to the default plugin folders. FL Studio doesn't scan custom locations unless you add them manually.
Don't install third-party plugins into FL Studio's own plugin folder. That folder is for native plugins only.
Do I need to set up audio drivers?
macOS: No. Core Audio works out of the box. Just select your audio device in Options > Audio Settings.
Windows: FL Studio ships with its own ASIO driver, which works with most built-in sound cards. If you have a dedicated audio interface, install the manufacturer's ASIO driver for the best latency. Start with a buffer size of 512 samples and adjust from there.
Either way, you'll be hearing sound within seconds of opening FL Studio.
Will updating affect my projects or settings?
No. Your projects, presets, custom settings, and third-party plugins all stay safe. The installer only replaces FL Studio's program files.

Do I need to uninstall my old FL Studio version first?
