Simon Servida

Tell us about yourself & how you got into music?

My name is Simon Servida, I am a producer/composer from Toronto. I was introduced to music from a young age. I began playing piano at the age of 7 just as an extracurricular activity, but it later turned into a pretty deep passion of mine. From there, I started producing at the age of 14 and later went on to study music composition at the University of Guelph.

Tell us about your Youtube Channel?

I created my Youtube channel January 2018 as a way to get my music out there! I had recently graduated university and had almost 10 years of Fl Studio experience so I thought I had a lot of knowledge to offer the community.

The channel mainly focuses on tutorials towards FL Studio, music theory, and music production in general! Creating the youtube channel and providing value for others has been the turning point in my career!

How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?

I downloaded the FL Studio 9 trial on a random school night because I was bored. I typed in “how to make beats?” in google and Fl Studio was the first thing to pop up. I have been playing piano for 7 years prior, so making a beat for the first time felt pretty natural. My favourite part about the program is that it is so easy to translate musical ideas from my head into Fl Studio. It is essential to my music production in regards to workflow and sound quality.

Tell us about your production environment and toys?

My production environment is pretty basic. At my home studio I have a pair of KRK Rokit 6s, an Apollo Twin Interface, a Nektar Panorama P6 and an Aston Spirit mic. I personally like to use a lot of software, so everything is very compact and accessible. I can take my laptop with FL Studio and I’m good to go!
