MIXING & EFFECTS

Hyper Chorus

Hyper Chorus takes the Chorus effect to the extreme. Create instant 'Super Saws' and other aggressive Chorus sounds with 3x X/Y controller pads.

Parameters

A Chorus effect creates the impression of multiple voices or instruments playing the same part. This is achieved by creating delayed copies of the original signal (Delay Lines) and then slightly detuning them. The pitch offsets, when mixed with the dry signal, create the 'Chorus' sound. Similar to when a Choir sings, no two singers are exactly in time or have the exact same pitch.

  • X/Y Pad 1 - Delay (Horizontal), Feedback (Vertical):
    • Delay - Chorus Delay Line length.
    • Feedback - Amount of the Chorus output that is fed back to the Input. Creates a 'flanging' sound at higher levels.
  • X/Y Pad 2 - Modulation (Horizontal), Mod Rate (Vertical):
    • Modulation - LFO (Low Frequency Modulation) modulation amount. Delay-line detuning amount.
    • Mod Rate - Chorus LFO modulation rate. Delay-line detuning rate.
  • X/Y Pad 3 - Movement (Horizontal), Mov Rate (Vertical):
    • Movement - Auto Pan speed. Delay-lines are auto-panned.
    • Mov Rate - Chorus LFO 'movement' rate. Speed at which delay-lines are panned.
  • Delay Lines - Chooses between 4 and 8 Delay Lines. 8 gives a more dense and extreme chorus.
  • High Pass - Removes low frequencies from the output. The control sets the Low Frequency cutoff point. Applies to the Wet signal before Wet/Dry mixing.
  • Low Pass - Removes high frequencies from the output. The control sets the High Frequency cutoff point. Applies to the Wet signal before Wet/Dry mixing.
  • LFO Phase Dif - Each delay-line can start at a different value in the LFO cycle. The greater this value, the more 'stereo' effect when the detuned delay-lines are mixed.
  • Mix - Dry/Wet Mix amount. Left 100% Dry. Right 100% Wet.
  • Display Scaling - Expand or contract the Vectorscope's 'Lissajous figure' display. A Vectorscope measures the differences between the Left and Right stereo channels and provides information about stereo content, panning and phase. See Wave Candy > Vectorscope for a deeper explanation.
