Original Plugins
Every one designed and built by us, from the oscillators up. You will not find them in another DAW.

100+ well-known plugins
Gross Beat, Harmor, Sytrus, Slicex are just a few of the included plugins in FL Studio. These plugins have shaped whole genres, and you have heard them on chart-topping records over the years.
Fuel for ideas
Stack them, resample them, route them through Patcher until it sounds like nothing else. With 100+ plugins the limit is what you can imagine, not what the software allows.
The collection keeps growing
We add new plugins every year, from Kepler Exo to Transmitter. Since we don't charge for updates they arrive in your Edition free.
What's in your Edition
Each Edition comes with a different set of plugins, and you can add more whenever you are ready. Compare Editions to see exactly which ones you get.
Built knob by knob
From sound design to the last label on the panel, every FL Studio plugin is made to sound right and read right.
Bring your own plugins
Bring the plugins you already own. FL Studio hosts VST, VST3, and CLAP on both platforms, plus Audio Units on macOS, and treats them exactly like ours.
Take it into any session
FL Studio also works as a plugin. Load it inside any VST or AU host and your patterns, Piano Roll, and mixer come with you, wherever the session lives.
Behind the hits,
there’s FL Studio
Some of the biggest songs in the world started in FL Studio. Yours can too.
About FL Studio
Belgium, 1997. A simple, fun step sequencer became one of the most used music programs in the world. FL Studio was born.

A free demo, then a number one
FL Studio's early demos spread through download sites in the early 2000s. In 2007 Soulja Boy took a beat made in the trial version, using only its stock sounds, to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Whole genres grew up in it
9th Wonder made Little Brother's The Listening in it. Southern US producers built the trap sound on its step sequencer. Grime, dubstep, and Dutch bubbling came from the same place.
Give first, charge once
The trial has always been free. Buy an Edition and every update released for it is free too, for as long as we keep making FL Studio.
Idea to release,
without leaving FL Studio
Get FL Cloud for sounds, plugins, AI mastering, backups, and distribution, built in by the same team.

Built by the same team
FL Cloud is made by the people who make FL Studio, so it behaves like part of the DAW. Search, audition, and drag without leaving your project.
Two million sounds, and counting
Vocal chops, synth riffs, guitar licks, kicks, 808s, one-shots. Over two million royalty-free sounds, with new ones added every regularly, searchable by genre, key, and BPM.
It is not only sounds
FL Cloud Pro adds 90+ premium plugins from UVI, Sonible, Minimal Audio and others, plus over 60 FLEX Packs that are normally sold separately and much more.
All the way to release
Master a track in seconds with genre presets, then send it to Spotify, Apple Music, and TikTok through DistroKid. You keep 100% of what it earns.
Lifetime Free Updates
Every update to your Edition is free, and always has been. Choose the Edition you want and it grows with you, for as long as we make FL Studio.

Something new every few months
Smaller improvements land through the year, and a full release lands every year. FL Studio 2026 arrived free for everyone who already owned an Edition.
What everyone else charges
In music software, paying $150 to $250 for each update, or a monthly subscription, is normal. FL Studio has never charged for an update.

Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about FL Studio below.
Is FL Studio a one-time purchase or a subscription?
One purchase. You choose an Edition, pay once, and every update released for it is free after that, with no update fees. FL Cloud is a separate, optional subscription that adds sounds, premium plugins, FLEX Packs, AI mastering, cloud project backup, and distribution -- FL Studio works fully without it.
What can I do with the free trial?
You can use every feature and plugin, with no time limit and no watermark, and export finished tracks to WAV or MP3 at full quality. The one thing you cannot do is reopen a saved project. Buy an Edition and those projects open again exactly as you saved them.
Which Edition should I start with?
Most new producers pick Producer Edition, because it adds audio recording and the Edison audio editor on top of Fruity Edition. You can move up later and pay only the difference.
Can I upgrade later without paying full price?
Yes. Upgrades are pro-rated, so you pay only the difference between the Edition you own and the one you want. Your Lifetime Free Updates carry across to the new Edition.
Will my existing plugins work in FL Studio?
Yes. On Windows, FL Studio loads 32-bit and 64-bit VST 1/2, VST3, and CLAP plugins. On macOS it loads 64-bit VST 1/2, VST3, Audio Units, and CLAP. They open in the Fruity Wrapper, so you can automate and chain them like our own plugins.
Does FL Studio run on both Mac and Windows?
Yes, and one license covers both. FL Studio runs natively on Windows 10 or 11 and on macOS 10.15 or later, including Apple Silicon Macs with no Rosetta needed. Switch computer or platform later and your license and projects come with you.
What are the system requirements?
On Windows you need Windows 10 or 11, a 2 GHz CPU with SSE2, 4 GB of RAM, and 4 GB of free disk space. On macOS you need 10.15 or later on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac, with the same memory and disk. For smoother performance we suggest a quad-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM or more, and an SSD.
Do I need FL Cloud to use FL Studio?
No. FL Studio works fully on its own. FL Cloud is an optional subscription that adds over two million royalty-free sounds updated weekly, premium plugins from developers like UVI and Sonible, FLEX Packs, AI mastering, automatic cloud project backup, a larger Loop Starter library, and distribution to Spotify, Apple Music, and TikTok through DistroKid. How much of each you get depends on the plan.
What formats can I export to?
Audio exports to WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC, and M4A, and you can render each Mixer track separately as stems. Note data exports as a MIDI file, and projects save as .flp.
Will my MIDI keyboard or controller work?
FL Studio works with any USB or MIDI keyboard, pad controller, or synth that sends standard MIDI, and many popular models are preconfigured. You can link knobs and faders to almost any control, use up to 16 controllers at once, and write your own MIDI scripts.
Is FL Studio Mobile included?
FL Studio Mobile is a separate app with its own purchase. Its instruments and effects are included free inside FL Studio through FL Studio Mobile Rack, and if you own Mobile your projects open in FL Studio with the same sounds in place.
What is the difference between FL Studio and FL Studio Web?
FL Studio Web runs in your browser with a simplified set of tools, made as a place to start. This page is the full desktop version of FL Studio for Windows and macOS. You can begin a track in FL Studio Web and open it in FL Studio to go further, though projects do not travel back the other way. FL Studio Web is in beta.
Is FL Studio only for electronic music?
No. It is widely used for hip hop, pop, and electronic music, and also for orchestral writing, film scores, and game soundtracks. Producers work in it from the first idea through to mixing and mastering.
