Interview (FL Studio makes a cameo)

How did you get into music?

I didn't start off as a producer. I loved writing poetry and I actually wanted to be a rapper or singer. I started off with some friends making music locally in Boston. One of the guys that I was working with was the producer and he used Fruity Loops to make all the beats. At the time, we were probably around 15-16 years old, with no musical experience. He would actually use some of the songs/projects that came preloaded with FL and remix them by adding a Reggaeton beat loop and editing the beat. Since we had no musical experience, it was the easiest way to do music and sound good.

After years of producing and writing for local talents I felt like I had reached my potential in my area. So I started looking for more opportunities outside of Boston, and I ended up moving to New York. After many hardships and attending different music conferences and networking, I finally met the people that would help me take my career to the next level. I started working with Nely "El Arma Secreta" engineering and producing tracks.

How did you come to use FL Studio & what were your first impressions?

Hahaha, it's a funny story. We had started a duo, I was the song writer and my friend was the producer. But one day he made a beat and did a song by himself, which kind of upset me because we had always made music and performed together. So, I decided I would make my own song. I went home, made my first beat and recorded a song of my own. That day my production skills took off! I started making beats every day and working with other friends and local artist. Back then I had no musical experience, and FL was easy to use because I could see the music! I started using FL like many kids do nowadays. I started by drawing melodies in the piano roll. Later, I would play the keyboard based on what I would see on the screen. Before you know it I was playing the keyboard, recording melodies on to FL Studio and creating songs!
