We recently came across sagun, a producer out of Nepal who has built a huge audience for his unique style of Lo-Fi music. At the time of this writing, his music has amassed more than 200 million streams on Spotify alone, and he’s certainly one of the biggest players in Lo-Fi right now, so we took the opportunity to learn more about his background and experience with FL Studio. sagun – “fusion” Tell us about yourself and how you got into music. I always loved music and making music was always my dream. I was a huge fan of J. Cole and I used to watch every interview he did. I came to know that J. Cole makes his beats all by himself most of the time, so I was curious how that was done and I started making my own music after that. How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions? After knowing that J. Cole made his own music, I started to learn about how people actually make beats. Then I researched a bunch of programs and came to know about FL Studio. I started learning it all by myself and there was every tutorial that I needed to know about it on YouTube. FL’s system made it easy to learn and use. The best thing about FL Studio is that if I’m confused about something on FL Studio then I can simply Google the problem and I can easily get the solution. My favorite part of FL Studio is the Piano Roll. The Piano Roll in FL is amazing and really useful/easy to use at the same time. Also, the mixing process in FL studio is really well managed and I basically love everything about it.

sagun – “i miss the old you” (feat. Kali Claire) Tell us about your work and some of the artists you have worked with. All the music that I’ve released to this date has been made in FL Studio. I’ve worked with Pink Sweat$ and flipped his sample in FL Studio with the help of “Edison” and “Slice X”. My latest project with Carl Storm “solitude” was fully made in FL Studio. My most streamed track on all the DSP’s “I’ll Keep You Safe” with the beautiful vocals of Shiloh was flipped using FL Studio. Other artists I’ve worked with are SYML, The KTNA, Kali Claire, and more. Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use. Most of the songs that I make are made in my bedroom on my MacBook Pro. I have a small bedroom studio setup with an audio interface from Universal Audio, the “Apollo Twin X”. I have Yamaha HS5 monitor speakers and an S61 MIDI keyboard from Native Instruments. sagun – alpenglow (visual listening experience) Is there anything else you would like to tell us? I just want to say that I was lucky to know about FL Studio early when I was 16-17. It was really life-changing for me.
