As one of the most innovative and sought-after artists in the world, Grammy Award-winning producer and DJ Afrojack, continues to shatter boundaries and push music in bold new directions. Since making his breakthrough with the multi-platinum-selling single ‘Take Over Control’, the Dutch-born musician has lent his production skills to tracks that bend genres and lay the foundation for major hits for artists such as Beyoncé, Pitbull,, and more. In the last few years, Afrojack was named one of the 50 Most Important People in EDM by Rolling Stone, placed on the Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ music list, received a stamp in his likeness in the Netherlands, became the second DJ ever to cement his hands into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and performed during the interval act of the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Afrojack has been using FL Studio right from the beginning, and we’re thrilled to have built a wonderful relationship with him over the years.

DubVision & Afrojack – Feels Like Home

Tell us about yourself and how you got into music.

I am Afrojack (Nick van de Wall) — I make music. Most people know me from my club tracks, others from ‘Take Over Control”, and some others from some parties here and there I think.

I started using FL Studio when I was about 11 years old, just for fun, making remixes and mixing records through each other. FL Studio felt really easy and intuitive, and I never stopped using it.

Tell us about your production environment and the gear you use.

Right now, my production environment is mostly my laptop and Beyerdynamic DT Pro 880 headphones, but in my studio, I have a Virus TI, Moog Lil Phatty, Korg Kaosillator, Yamaha Motif Rack XS, and even though I’m ripping sounds from here nonstop, my synths mainly come out the Sylenth1 VST.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

All my tracks are 100% FL Studio, mostly using Fruity Compressors and Equalizers. The only plugins that are on my master channel are iZotope Ozone and sometimes a Waves L3 Multimaximizer.

So don’t let people tell you that Logic or other programs are ‘superior’, its just practice, practice, and experience!
