Tell us about yourselves and how you got into music?
We’ve actually been producing under different names and various styles since way back in 2001 when we found electronic production firstly as a way to record instruments, and then discovered how much potential there was to explore the full range of creative expression, we actually started out with FL2.0. As Bombs Away we formed in 2010 and have been lucky enough to have a couple of Platinum Records & ARIA Nominations for production under our belt since then!
Tell us about the viral videos you’ve been doing between single releases?
The vids have been a great way to quickly share a little snippet of the creative process with people who generally would only hear finished songs, we get to take a few samples and really experiment with new sounds and styles and have a bit of fun, without the pressure from the labels for a full release! The fact that they’re reaching 100 million+ people around the world is such a crazy thought.
How did you start using FL Studio & what does it mean to your productions?
We’ve actually been die-hard FL users from day one, we have experimented with almost every other DAW but nothing has come close to transparently bridging the gap between the creative idea stage and the final master without interfering with the process, everything is where it should be, and does what it should do, FL is almost an extension of our imagination.
Tell us about your production environment & toys?
We’re on the road touring almost full time now so we’ve really stripped back the setup lately, now we’re using an Akai eie pro soundcard with a Mackie Bigknob plus an Akai MPK 61 midi controller and ADAM A77x Monitors plus AKG K217 mkii & AKG K702 headphones.
