Q: How did you start using FL Studio and what were your first impressions?
I started using FL Studio in the Summer of 2008. I was intimidated at first, as I'd had problems using other programs, so I hired Toby Emerson to show me the ropes. I found the layout was easier to follow than other programs I had seen. Only after the first introduction, was I comfortable to navigate it on my own.
Q: Tell us about yourself and your production/working environment?
I've been DJing for 10 years now, based in Victoria, BC. I've travelled around Canada, to DJ, and I've organized my own events. I've had the opportunity to come into contact with some really great people in the electronic music scene. I'm very proud to be a member of Sunset Collaborations.
I've wanted to get into music production for years and, only until recently, did I have the drive to do it. When I found FL Studio, it looked as though my musical dreams were turning into a reality. I felt I had the tools necessary to create and develop my sound.
As it stands, I use is my laptop, combined with great a great set of headphones, and FL Studio. Now I can make music anywhere and at any time I feel inspired!
Q: Do you have any music you can share with us?
My DJ mixes are posted on SoundCloud, with other artist's productions. You can check them out a http://www.soundcloud.com/dj-marlee. If you like what you hear - please post about it!
