In this tutorial the Guru explores the Fruity Keyboard & Envelope Controllers. The Keyboard & Envelope controllers are invaluable for automating plugins and FL Studio parameters under live Keyboard / MIDI or Piano roll control.
The FL Studio development team is working on a new Performance Mode for FL Studio. We thought those interested in this feature would like to have the opportunity to discuss its development. Please see the link below the video.
The system shown above is an early Alpha and will probably change by the time we release it. It works by dynamically adding clips to the Playlist as you trigger them, in this way it's also a real-time arrangement process. All three clip types (Audio, Automation and Pattern) can be triggered.
Keyboards - There are 12 Clips assignable to each Playlist Track (one octave of a MIDI controller per track)
Launchpad & Mouse - Unlimited Clips assignable to each Playlist track.
Other Pad based Controllers - Limited only by the number of MIDI note assignable pads
At the moment there is basic scripting to define extra pages on the launchpad, you're able to define actions for buttons, among transport ones, notes & controls.
The CPU load is similar to the project as it would play normally.
The guru discusses how Microsoft is saving the Polar Bears, why some of our customers run about waving their hands in the air telling us we suck and, oh yes, what's the deal with multi-core CPU processing?
Multicore CPUs and FL Studio
Creating multi-core compatible projects - Make sure that your highest CPU using plugins are routed to independent Mixer Tracks without shared 'Send' or other linked mixer tracks. Multi-core CPUs need computational tasks that can be run simultaneously and so split across cores. Each Mixer Track represents an 'opportunity' to create these independent, parallel, processing paths. Each unit in the audio chain from the instrument through to the Mixer track and the effects must be processed in sequence ON THE SAME CORE. If one mixer track is linked to another, then all the instruments and effects on both Mixer Tracks now have a dependency and can't be split across cores efficiently.
FL Studio 12.3 introduced new MIDI input handling for the Channel Rack. Now you can more easily lock controllers to Channels and even pass MIDI Channels through to the plugin. In this tutorial the Guru explains how. 10-10-2016
